Sonya Wallestad

Sonya Wallestad, MA (she/her/hers)
is a pre-licensed therapist who earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. She supports adolescents and adults in navigating anxiety, depression, chronic pain and illness, and life transitions. Her work is grounded in a trauma- informed, person-centered approach that honors each individuals' unique journey. Sonya believes therapy should feel safe and supportive, offering space for reflection, growth and healing.
With a background in reproductive health and a strong commitment to reproductive justice, Sonya has a special interest in working with individuals during pregnancy and postpartum. She has completed Postpartum Support International Certificate training in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Sonya draws from mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to tailor her work to each client’s needs and goals. She is currently under the clinical supervision of Allison Peterson, MA, LP, PMH-C.
